We use SpringShare’s LibGuides interface at our school for our research guides. Lots of schools do and I always wondered how they were able to brand their guides to match their main website. Under the hood I went, with the help of SpringShare’s fantastic how-tos, and I turned our default-design guides into something a bit more in keeping with our (not yet launched) website redesign. All of this was done with JS/CSS adjustments. The main differences:
- Overall colour palette changed from the gradient blues to one of our official colours paired with a neutral grey
- Default rounded page tabs changed to square, navigation-style menu options
- Default round content boxes changed to square with a thinner keyline
I also added a box so that students could immediately log in with Single Sign On to get immediate access to databases and ebooks. And I’m pretty sure I did other things.
